Artist Trading Card: Dave

You probably can’t tell from the scan what makes this pencil drawing so different to the other things I’ve done. It’s the size actually. I’ve never done anything this small before.

Let me explain, this is my first Artist Trading Card. These are blank cards (available in a variety of styles) measuring 2.5″ x 3.5″ that artists can create artworks on and then share. Kind of like individually personalised business cards or baseball cards.

I bought an assorted pack of the Strathmore Artist Trading Cards (vellum bristol, smooth bristol, canvas, textured, watercolor, illustration board, acrylic) and am keen to see what else I can do with them.

The other thing I’m doing differently is that I’m going to send this artwork to the subject. My friend Dave (in England) celebrates his 21st birthday today. I hope he likes it. Happy birthday Dave!

  • I like the small. And trading card art sounds like a very cool concept.
